Areeb Zuaiter
Director & Writer
Areeb Zuaiter is a multinational filmmaker based in Washington, D.C. Her work focuses on art, identity, and social issues. She holds an MA in Film and Video from American University. Zuaiter’s work has been nominated at film festivals around the world. Zuaiter previously worked with the Associated Press and as a Goldman Sachs Film and Video Fellow at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Zuaiter led the Regional Training Department at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan, and taught at several universities in Washington, DC. In addition to working on her films, Zuaiter heads the programming department at the Amman International Film Festival (AIFF). Yalla Parkour is her debut feature film.
Basel Mawlawi
Producer
Basel Mawlawi is a producer at Kinana Films, a production company based in Malmö focused on producing content in Sweden, Europe, and the MENA region. He worked at Filmcentrum Syd for more than 8 years. Mawlawi received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlesex University in the UK and a Professional Diploma in Film Production from SAE Institute. He has participated in several prestigious producer-specific labs, such as Doha Film Institute’s Producers Lab and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs. Basel also works as a creative producer at the European Writers Club, designing their upcoming program Bridging Generations 2025, supported by the European Union and aimed towards experienced TV Series writers across Europe.
Ibrahim Al Otla
Director of Photography - Gaza
Ibrahim Al Otla works as an independent director, cinematographer and producer. He worked as a director and cinematographer for Media Town between 2008 and 2011 and for Palestine Television between 2000 and 2008. He has worked on numerous documentary films for multiple Arab channels, including Al Jazeera Documentary. Ibrahim has served as a jury member for the International Film Festival of Al Quds.
Phil Jandaly
Editor
Phil Jandalay has been a documentary editor for the last 20 years and has taken part in award-winning international productions like Nelly & Nadine, The Last Human and Killing Time. He now works as a rough-cut consultant on films like How To Save A Dead Friend, Home Games and How Big is the Galaxy. Working out of Sweden, his projects originated in places as far afield as Serbia, Kenya, and Sierra Leone. He has travelled the world as a tutor with EDN and B2B Doc, as well as independently helping filmmakers develop their projects.
Marco Padoan
Director of Photography - Sweden
Marco Padoan, FSF - The Swedish Society of Cinematographers, is based in Malmö, Sweden. He works with features, TV series, documentaries, shorts and commercials. He received his education at GCI, Global Cinematography Institute, Los Angeles and
Fridhem Filmlinje, Sweden. Marco Padoan is known for Becker - Kungen av Tingsryd (2017), The Nurse (2014) and Sagan om Dilan och Moa (2018).
Umit Gulsen
Director of Photography - U.S.
Umit Gulsen’s enrolled in film school in Istanbul in 2001. Gulsen worked as an assistant director on TV series, short films and documentaries. One of the shorts he worked on, BLUE, was supervised by Majid Majidi. In 2009, Gulsen moved to Washington, D.C. as a multimedia producer and then began his cinematography career. Gulsen has an MA in Film and Video from American University. He has filmed hundreds of productions around the world, and his work for PCI capturing the NGO’s efforts took him to Tanzania and Guatemala.

Kinana Films is a Film & TV production company established in 2018 by producer Basel Mawlawi and has quickly become known as one of the trusted production companies in Sweden. We aim to support and welcome new voices, ideas, perspectives, and aim to utilize our space and knowledge as a bridge between Sweden and the Middle East. We are constantly working on fortifying and contributing to the diversity of productions in Sweden, and our attention to detail and dedication to every project have led to the worthy reputation we proudly hold today. Our latest production, Allting är bra nu, is a co-production with SVT, Film I Skåne, and, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, has premiered at the Uppsala Short Film Festival 2023.
